Voter’s Registration in Your New City

It’s important that everyone register to vote in Austin after arriving in our great city. Each state has its own laws and rules that govern the process of moving and registering to vote. Cedar Park movers are based in Texas, close to Austin, so we will be focusing on the process to register to vote in Austin.

Remember, moving within Texas and moving long distance frim out of state will change the rules when you register to vote in Austin.

Moved from Outside of Texas

Cedar park movers would call this long distance moving. If you moved to Cedar park or Austin from outside of Texas, you must register to vote in Austin at least 30 days before the next election process. In Texas, you can register to vote the same day you become a Texas resident.

You will be a resident of Texas after you have moved to Cedar Park, or any other city, and received mail at that address. Simply take that mail to the DMV and change your license.

Moved within Texas

If you’ve moved from anywhere within the state, then Cedar Park movers would call this a local move. For this, you simply must ensure that you have performed an address change and changed your voter’s registration, both of which can be performed online.

Once you have changed your address within the 30-day time frame, you can register to vote in Austin and then you are eligible to vote in the elections, both on a state and local level. You can find where your polling station is by following the address here: http://www.sos.state.tx.us/elections/pamphlets/specialearlyvoting.shtml.
