The previous blog posted by All My Sons Moving and Storage Austin movers detailed plans to construct almost 5,000 new luxury apartments in Austin. On the other side of the coin, city regulators are now discussing plans to create affordable apartments in Austin as well.
Austin is a city that’s rapidly expanding, and it’s happening so fast that you can see major differences in the city after just a few years. Ask one of the local Austin moving companies and they can tell you that people are moving to Austin by the truck load, literally.
Part of the problem with building large developments on small pieces of land is that the people-to-land-density ratio causes rent prices to skyrocket. In other words, the more people on less land, the higher the rent prices. The new luxury apartments in Austin are going to rent for almost $3,600 for a 1300-square-foot unit.
But Austin’s Planning and Zoning Department is doing something to attract more middle class people and families to call their local Austin moving companies; they are loosening up some restrictions. Last month, the zoning committee took a tour through a few Austin neighborhoods and outlined plans to allow construction of higher density apartment building contracts to developers on the condition that they keep the rent at a preselected, affordable rate.
Some say that because more people are arriving in Austin every year with local Austin moving companies and families, there must be a better way to deal with the influx that doesn’t require resorting to dense over populated areas. High density areas are often seen as an issue for zones because of noise, density requirements, and utilities; this is a compromise taken by both sides in an attempt to provide affordable apartments in Austin.
