When it comes time to buying an Austin home, one of the most critical features to have checked by an inspector is the roof and how the previous home owners have maintained it. It is a major indicator of the overall health of the Austin home. If the house only needs slight maintenance, this does not have to derail the entire home buying process. The Austin relocation experts stress the importance of hiring a qualified and trustworthy roofing pro.

Follow this guide as a resource to help you find and hire a reputable roofer for your Austin home:

Do your Research:

1.Compare the prices for several different roofers. It is wise to always review a few different roofing professionals before deciding on a hire.

2. Plan repairs for the appropriate season. Most roofers will help you schedule the best time to repair your Austin home roof. Make sure to avoid rainy or snowy seasons.

3. Choose your desired roofing materials. Do your research and decide which materials you want your roof to be repaired with before you make your decision on roofing professional.

4. Request credentials and references. Always ask the prospective roofer about their credentials and any references they can supply you. If they refuse to supply this information, find another company.

5. Inquire about the roofer’s warranties. Find out exactly what the roofer is liable for or willing to cover in case of accident or emergency.

6. Establish a realistic completion date. Repairing the roof to your Austin home is a tedious and sometimes unpredictable task. All My Sons Moving & Storage suggest you have the professional roofer agree to completion date before you hire them.

The 2017 Women’s March that took place January 21 proved that citizens around the world were a force to be reckoned with. The Women’s March on Washington and its Sister Marches, such as the one that took place on the Austin Capital, was a worldwide protest in the support of civil rights including women’s rights, immigration reform, healthcare rights, environmental protection reform, freedom of religion, racial justice, worker’s rights, and equality of human rights for the LGBTQ community.

The march took place the day after President Trump’s inauguration in association with the other marches across the country and world. Austin residents played their part in the 2017 Women’s March, drawing in 50,000 participants- the largest protest in Texas history. The people assembled at the Texas State Capitol to fight for equality of human rights, environmental protection, safety, and healthcare reform.

Witnesses of the historic march claimed the streets of the Capitol were so packed that many Austin residents chose to stand on the sidewalks to cheer on fellow marchers. It took the protestors two hours to march the one-mile loop. There were many notable speakers including State Sen. Wendy Davis, Lizzie Velasquez, Mustafa Tameez, and Sherly Cole. Austin residents were also entertained with performances from Tameca Jones, Gina Chavez, and many more.

The Austin All My Sons Moving & Storage team is proud the place we call home is filled with residents that take pride in their human rights and stand for what they believe in. If you are interested in moving to Austin give our full service moving team a call today!

Austin All My Sons Moving & Storage is sad to announce that long time running and family owned restaurant, El Gallo, will be closing their doors for good on January 29th. The family owned restaurant was opened in 1957 by Abraham and Maria Kennedy and was passed onto Abel after Maria passed away in the spring of 2015. El Gallo has been in business for a staggering 60 years.

There are a few reasons that contribute to the restaurant closing but Abel stated it was mostly due to rising expenses and property taxes. While they own the property, and have no debt or lien on it, they have decided to get out while they’re still ahead of the game.

Not only are tax prices doubling every year for the past five years, the death of Abel’s mother Maria in 2015 has had an effect on the company morale. It was said that Maria was the heart and soul of the restaurant and the place just isn’t the same without her. El Gallo’s loyal customers are also feeling the pain of the restaurant’s imminent closing. When long running restaurants like this, it is usually a sign of a much bigger problem the city faces; cost of living.

The Austin corporate relocation experts are no longer surprised when a South Congress restaurant closes, and leaves them to only speculate who the raising property taxes victims will be. El Gallo stayed true to their values and only raised their prices approximately fifty cents over the past five years. They never wanted to compromise the customer’s affordability for their own.

Ice skating and lights. What better way to get into the spirit of the holidays than going for a hand in hand ice skate, and sharing a kiss under the holiday lights? Omni Barton Creek Resort will offer both of these elements to add to your date.

A comedy show. Laughing together is an element of a relationship that should be valued. Think outside of the box and go on a date to an affordable comedy show at the New Movement Theater. Some shows are as cheap as five dollars, and you can even bring your own booze!

Beer tasting. Head to a brewery together and sample some local beers! Check out the South Austin Brewery or the Hops and Grain Brewery.

Live music. Another one of our winter date ideas is listening to some live music together. 6th Street in Austin is well known for its regular live bands and great music scene.

Pick out a tree. Austin local movers state that one of their favorite winter date ideas has to be picking out a Christmas tree. Head over to the Elgin or Evergreen Christmas Tree Farm to pick out your perfect tree. Spend the evening together decorating and putting up holiday lights.

Becoming an Austin resident may come along with becoming accustomed to barbecues! One of the staples of Austin is its love for barbecue. It is not just restaurants creating some of the best smoky tastes; Austin’s locals have perfected the art of the backyard barbecue. With the holidays approaching, your Austin local movers would like to suggest a few elements to add to your cook out in order to create the perfectly balanced holiday barbecue.

Apple Spice Ribs. Your Austin local movers bring you one of the easiest ways to create the perfect ribs for your seasonal barbecue. In a crockpot, start with a rack of ribs cut in half. Add your favorite barbecue sauce and some apple sauce. Dice two green apples and add them with a half a cup of apple cider. Seasoning should be added to your liking and taste. Cook on medium-high for about six hours, depending on your crock pot.

Cranberry Barbecue Sauce. A holiday barbecue is not complete without a holiday-infused barbecue sauce. Make your barbecue sauce how you normally would, but add in some pureed cranberries, a little fresh squeezed orange juice, and lemon zest. This sauce can be added to burgers, ribs, and just about any barbecue dish!

Barbecue Dates. Dates provide the perfect amount of sweetness to mix with a barbecue. Stuff your dates with a creamy cheese and wrap in bacon or prosciutto. You will be left with a dish containing the perfect combination of flavors for your holiday barbecue.

Austin local movers from All My Sons Moving & Storage hope you enjoy these barbecue ideas. Have a happy holiday season!
